What matters most
What to include on a GST invoice in New Zealand
Start with your business name, invoice number, invoice date, and the customer name. If your business is GST-registered, your GST number should be visible.
Each line item should clearly describe the service or product supplied. The invoice should also show whether prices are GST-exclusive or GST-inclusive, the GST amount, and the final total due.
Payment terms matter too. Add a due date, bank account details, and any notes your client needs to pay you correctly. That reduces back-and-forth and makes overdue follow-up easier later.
